The liberalization of the energy market requires new amendments in the Energy Act, which are expected to be finalized by the end of June 2016.
Оne of the major changes is that NEK EAD will no longer be the single buyer. The model will become clearer after the submission of the World Bank’s report in April.
“The amendments in the Energy Act will be made once we have clarity on the model of full liberalization of the electricity market and after having considered all the stages that we must go through. These changes will be strictly related to the full liberalization of the market and the individual role of each participant in this process – electricity producers, suppliers, and consumers. By the end of June we need to have an amended Energy Act.” – said Minister Petkova.
